AMIMON Reaches Milestone with Millionth Shipment of its Wireless High-Definition Chipset

AMIMON recently announced that it has reached the 100,000th mark with the latest shipment of its wireless High Definition television (HDTV) chipset. With this milestone, AMIMON is closer to its goal of making whole-home wireless high definition (HD) video connectivity a reality.

With its headquarters in Herzlia, Israel, AMIMON, a semiconductor company, is said to be the only provider of wireless uncompressed HDTV semiconductor solutions shipped in volume chipsets and included in products that are at present sold to consumers.
"AMIMON's technology is the de-facto technology of choice for wireless HDTV," said Noam Geri, vice president of marketing and business development, AMIMON. "The 100,000 chipsets shipped serve as the best reference for the superiority of AMIMON's solution," Geri added.
While its chipsets are embedded into multiple products shipping in the United States, Europe and Japan, some of the consumer electronics applications that are shipped with its chipset include ultra-slim Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TVs by leading TV Original Equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and wireless HDTV link video accessories that are capable of converting legacy HDTVs into wireless HDTVs.
Apart from consumer electronics applications, AMIMON's technology is also adopted by manufacturers in the professional, commercial and medical industries who are attracted by its quality, robust features and low latency. Such applications include wireless links for commercial projector systems, medical imaging applications and professional audio-visual (AV) cameras in HD broadcast applications.
"The promise of robust wireless solutions aimed at delivering high-quality video streams will only be made real by the adoption by consumer electronics companies, so it is very encouraging to finally see a wireless HDTV technology delivering on its promise," said Kurt Scherf, vice president and principal analyst for Parks Associates. "The 100K chipset milestone represents a turning point for the industry and a major achievement for AMIMON as it continues to drive WHDI (Wireless High Definition Interface) as the standard for wireless HDTV," Scherf added.
While its WHDI technology has been chosen in the "Enabling Technologies" product category as a CES (News - Alert) Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Award honoree, the demonstration of AMIMON's wireless technology will take place from the 8th to 11th of January 2009 at the upcoming 2009 International CES show in Las Vegas.
