BT Group and Polycom Enter into Agreement to Accelerate Growth of Unified Conferencing
BT Group, a provider of communications solutions and services, and Polycom (News - Alert), Inc., a major player in telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, reportedly have entered into a new three-year agreement designed to accelerate the growth of unified conferencing solutions within enterprises and public sector organizations around the world.
Polycom officials said that the companies under its new global agreement will combine the Polycom’s voice and video communications and telepresence solutions with BT’s (News - Alert) renowned managed services and global, high-speed MPLS network.
Company officials also said that the solutions will include jointly developed innovations that enable business-to-business collaboration for multinational companies, large organizations and small- and medium-size enterprises.
“BT and Polycom have the unique ability to provide our customers with the unified conferencing solutions that they require,” said Aaron McCormack, CEO of BT Conferencing, in a statement.
“Working closely with BT’s global sales force, I am pleased with our partnership and the significant potential revenue stream it will represent for both BT and Polycom,” said McCormack.
BT Conferencing is a global provider of audio, video and web collaboration services.
Robert C. Hagerty, chairman, CEO and president of Polycom said that BT is a strategic partner for Polycom.

Coupling Polycom’s acclaimed voice and video communications solutions with BT’s unparalleled success in serving enterprises and public entities alike, this alliance creates a uniquely formidable industry force,” Hagerty said.
Recently Polycom announced a new line of highly adaptable immersive telepresence solutions – Polycom Architected Telepresence (News - Alert) Experience (Polycom ATX) 300.
The Polycom ATX 300 is a telepresence kit that features technology components and software, combined with planning, design, and implementation services from qualified AV integrator partners to create customized solutions for a broad range of industries and applications.
Based on Polycom’s visual communication technology and designed for flexibility, the Polycom ATX 300 line can be customized by qualified audio/visual integrators to address vertical industry applications or precisely meet an organization’s unique collaboration and/or room requirements.
The system can be used to create unique immersive telepresence environments customized with displays, furniture, lighting, acoustics, décor, etc. Customers may also be able to incorporate existing furniture or components to reduce costs and adapt the system to unique room requirements.
Polycom ATX solutions are based on established video conferencing standards and open interoperability, so organizations can use them with existing video conferencing systems and with the estimated two million standards-based video conferencing and telepresence systems in use today.
