iBasis International SMS Hubbing Service Earns GSMA Certification

The International SMS Hubbing Service from iBasis (News - Alert) has received certification from the GSM Association, the KPN affiliate that sells wholesale international voice services announced today.

Reinier Huisman, product manager for the mobile messaging services at iBasis, says that will enable iBasis more easily facilitate interworking between its wireless carrier customers and others with which they want to interconnect for SMS services. It will also ensure a high level of interworking for those customers, he adds, because the GSMA (News - Alert) has stringent requirements around interworking. For example, he says, there’s a requirement in the GSMA SMS framework that no message can travel over more than two hubs/international service providers.

The iBasis International SMS Hubbing Service eliminates the need for mobile network operators to negotiate numerous bilateral contracts with other operators around the world by providing a single point for commercial and technical SMS connectivity. The service federates interconnections with other GSMA-approved SMS hubs across the world for a standardized hubbing environment that guarantees security, roaming, return traffic and least-cost routing between operators.
