According to the T3i Group, the top five unified communications applications viewed by enterprise managers as providing the clearest or fastest return on investment all revolve around collaboration.

 

Real-time audio conferencing was rated a top feature by 56 percent of respondents. Instant messaging was viewed by 53 percent of respondents as a top application, while an equal percentage saw document collaboration as providing clear value.

 

Web conferencing was seen by 52 percent of respondents as providing fast return while 48 percent cited desktop videoconferencing as providing return on investment in short order.

 

The findings are consistent with what executives in the unified communications space have been touting over the last year or more, namely that the focal point for UC value that has emerged is conferencing and collaboration. Unified messaging is still important, but does not seem quite so “top of mind” as do conferencing and collaboration tools in driving the perceived value a UC solution provides.
