Polycom Certifies AVI-SPL to Offer Telepresence Solutions
Looking to broaden its portfolio of technologies, a Tampa, Fla.-based audio and video communications solution provider today announced that it has attained certification with Polycom, Inc.
Officials at AVI-SPL said they have achieved the status as a provider of audio/visual integration for customized immersive telepresence solutions. The certification helps AVI-SPL (News - Alert) leverage a new line of immersive telepresence solutions, "Polycom Architected Telepresence Experience," to help organizations personalize the solution for their specific needs. Already, AVI-SPL and Polycom (News - Alert), a Pleasanton, Calif. -based provider of telepresence, video, and voice solutions, have launched Polycom ATX Telepresence at 11 locations nationwide for a multi-national customer.
"Customers are often looking for flexibility to tailor telepresence for very specific requirements," said Ron Myers, vice president of channels at Polycom, in a statement. "With expertise in visual communication deployments and certification for the new Polycom ATX solutions, AVI-SPL offers customers a comprehensive range of Polycom telepresence offerings and services, including the ability to develop specialized solutions for very specific business requirements."
Polycom ATX solutions can interoperate with Polycom's line of telepresence solutions, as well as the roughly 2 million standards-based video conferencing systems. With it, technology components, including codecs, cameras, microphone arrays, software, and configuration tools can be linked with planning, design, and implementation services from certified integration partners like AVI-SPL to streamline deployment, officials said.
The certification recognizes the company’s ability to deliver telepresence solutions for Polycom’s line of immersive, room and personal telepresence solutions, officials said.
ATX also announced that its ConferencePoint Telepresence (News - Alert) VNOC services can support Polycom’s Telepresence products, including Polycom RealPresence Experience and Polycom Telepresence Experience telepresence solutions.
"Customers have really embraced the concept of an immersive video communications experience but increasingly want their own variation of a telepresence solution,” Mike Brandofino, executive vice president of video and unified communications for AVI-SPL, in a statement. ”Polycom has been the quickest to respond to that need with the Polycom ATX solution, which enables us to create solutions tailored for each customer."
In other news, Polycom recently announced its DECT voice systems are now interoperable with Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert) Manager by tekVizion, an independent third-party lab. The solutions that can now be used with Cisco UCM include the Polycom KIRK Wireless Servers 6000 and 300 and the KIRK handset.
Polycom’s partnership with Cisco (News - Alert) is part of the company’s ongoing effort to increase its telepresence and video conferencing solutions for organizations. Under it, Polycom hopes to reach targeted groups with live video broadcasts and on-demand video and multimedia content.
