Radicati Study Analyzes Unified Communications
By David SimsThe latest study by The Radicati Group, titled "Hosted Unified Communications (News - Alert) Market, 2009-2013," provides analysis of the field, including installed base and revenue market share by vendor, four-year forecasts, and breakouts by region and business size.
Radicati analysts found that the Hosted UC market is "showing strong growth," with revenues expected to reach $2.3 billion in 2009, and growing to nearly $5 billion by 2013.
The Hosted Unified Communications market basically comprises services that offer integrated voice, messaging, collaboration, and presence capabilities accessed and managed through a single interface. This study looks at the Hosted UC Providers, and Telecom UC Providers segments of the market.
The study looks at a range of Hosted UC Providers, including Apptix, AT&T (News - Alert), CallTower, Cypress Communications, Hutchinson 3G, Intelliverse, Intermedia, LightEdge Solutions, Microsoft, NTT DoCoMo, Onebox, Orange SA, Skype Technologies, Sprint (News - Alert) Nextel Corporation, Telus, USA.NET, Verizon Communications, Vodafone and others.

Last month TMC's Raju Shanbhag reported that the Radicati Group rated CommuniGate Systems (News - Alert) as a Top Player in Messaging Platforms for Hosted E-Mail Providers in its 2009 Radicati Market Quadrant report.
"With the advancements in technology, and with the volume of mobile workforce constantly on the rise, mobile unified communications has become an important part of the company’s infrastructure," Shanbhag wrote. "Mobile unified communications can remove much of the delay caused by human intervention. It integrates high quality mobile devices, IP networks, near ubiquitous wireless access and unified communications."
CommuniGate Pro offers virtualization of domains with a modular feature set, service provisioning and a live rolling update change management capability. With no single point of failure, the platform's Dynamic Clustering architecture, company officials claim, provides 99.999 percent uptime in a multi-tenant architecture.
