ComicConnect Selects ServerBeach for its Online Comic Book Auction

Recently, ComicConnect hosted a record-breaking, rare comic book auction that ran from February 24 to March 13. ComicConnect selected ServerBeach, a PEER 1 Network Enterprises company, to carry out this auction.

ComicConnect used PEER 1’s SuperNetwork to carry on the online auction. SuperNetwork is a multi-vendor network powered by Juniper and Cisco (News - Alert) technologies. To provide Fast-Ethernet and Gigabit-Ethernet interconnectivity, the network provides more than 13,000 miles of fiber connectivity. This product is suited for companies that are looking for highest possible bandwidth to provide rich-media and streaming applications.

To prepare ComicConnect for its online auction, ServerBeach upgraded the company’s service, including installing an enterprise grade server. Also, to prevent and mitigate any issues, such as denial of service attacks or any kind of overload of the servers, ServerBeach provided technical assistance to the online auction.

“We understand ComicConnect’s business platform and related IT requirements, and are pleased that we could provide the hosting and network support for this exciting comic book auction” said Ted Smith, senior vice president of operations for PEER 1. “ServerBeach offers the expertise and network backbone to support any level of online activity. This enables our customers to focus on their core business, leaving the IT issues to us.”

ServerBeach optimizes the ComicConnect systems to support daily comic book sales, as well as for high-volume activities such as last week’s auction. Enabling a platform for comic listings, searching, online bidding and transactions, the site brings comic book buyers and sellers together.

The news of ComicConnect made international headlines and the company experienced unprecedented traffic rates due to the auction bidding. The company says that ServerBeach took all the precautions to provide the hosting support ComicConnect needed for this auction.

Recently, the company was selected to join the Microsoft BizSpark program as a Network Partner. The BizSpark program is a new global program designed to help accelerate the success of early stage startups by connecting them to Network Partners: active members of the global software ecosystem that can provide mentorship, guidance and resources to BizSpark enrolled startups.
