Video Conferencing Increases in 2008 for Glowpoint
The video conferencing market seems to have benefited from the current economic environment. One company, Glowpoint, a provider of advanced video communications solutions, has announced their video call volumes more than doubled during the November-December 2008 period as compared to the same period in 2007.
This rapid growth in call volume was attributed to increased usage by existing customers as well as the addition of new customers during the fourth quarter.
“Glowpoint’s (News - Alert) services provide customers with an easy-to-use and robust experience, which is driving both the increased usage and adoption of video communications solutions,” said Michael Brandofino, CEO of Glowpoint.
Glowpoint said that the company’s strong video call volume performance was particularly encouraging given that the winter holiday period is usually a slow one for video usage activity. The company anticipates building on this increased demand for its video services throughout 2009.
Another recent report on the video conferencing market also indicated high growth forecast for video conferencing.
Glowpoint’s suite of telepresence and video communications solutions allow organizations to communicate with each other over disparate networks and technology platforms. The company supports thousands of video communications system in over 35 countries with its 24/7 video management services, powering broadcasters, Fortune 500 companies, as well as global carriers and video equipment manufacturers around the world.
Last month, Glowpoint also announced that it secured contract renewals from several of its largest government agency customers and signed a Telepresence (News - Alert) Video Networks Operation Center management deal for a new government agency.
