SpinVox Highlights Importance of Punctuation with Special iTunes Playlist

SpinVox (News - Alert) is inviting Americans to celebrate September 24 as “National Punctuation Day,” and to help kick off the celebration is offering a special playlist of songs (available through iTunes) related to this theme. The songs demonstrate how English grammar can be used effectively when people “punctuate with panache” — or don’t.

With the punctuation theme in mind, the playlist includes songs where lyrics might commonly be misunderstood. Some of the songs include:
  • Comma Chameleon, instead of Karma Chameleon (Culture Club)
  • Semi-Colon Life, instead of Semi-Charmed Life (Third Eye Blind)
  • Hyphen Everywhere, instead of I've Been Everywhere (Johnny Cash)
  • Run-On with the Devil, in place of Running with the Devil (Van Halen)
  • Apostrophe in Effect, instead of Posse in Effect (Beastie Boys)
  • Enter Ampersand, in place of Enter Sandman (Metallica)
  • Monster Dash, in place of Monster Mash (Bobby Boris Pickett)
  • Bracket Off, in place of Break It Off (Rihanna)
  • London Colon, in place of London Calling (The Clash)
  • Our Ellipsis are Sealed aka Our Lips are Sealed (The Go-Gos)
The SpinVox Punctuation Playlist also includes hits from artists whose songs would not be the same without punctuation playing a big part of the title, such as:
  • Up the Bracket (Libertines)
  • Country Grammar (Nelly)
  • Rankin' Full Stop (The English Beat)
  • 5:15 (The Who)
  • Start! (The Jam)
  • Where Is the Love? (Black Eyed Peas & Justin Timberlake)
  • Oops!...I Did It Again (Britney Spears)
  • Run It! (Chris Brown)
  • (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones)
  • Whoomp! There It Is (Tag Team)
SpinVox offers a mobile service that converts voice messages into text messages so they can be delivered via e-mail, SMS and blogs. The company said its service often punctuates better than most people! It is now making everyday communication simpler and more powerful, creating new recurring revenues for wireless, landline, cable and VoIP carriers as well as service providers and Web partners.

At the heart of SpinVox is its Voice Message Conversion System (VMCS), which works by combining speech technologies with a live-learning language process. VMCS is now available in four languages: English, French, Spanish and German.

"As the leading provider of voice-to-content, we understand the importance of punctuation for clear communication," said Christina Domecq (News - Alert), SpinVox co-founder and CEO, in a statement. "We came up with our very own playlist to get people to subconsciously think about punctuation while getting their groove on; perhaps they'll hear the same fun messages we hear."

SpinVox’s service is available through Alltell, Cincinnati Bell, Sasktel, Rogers, Telstra, Vodacom South Africa, Six Apart, Vodafone Spain and Skype (News - Alert). As a managed service provider, any network or service can rapidly and cost-effectively implement SpinVox.
