Voice Mobility International today released a migration tool designed specifically for use with the Avaya (News - Alert) OCTel 250 and 350 legacy messaging servers.

 

Earlier, in an effort to move from an OCTel server to a next-generation unified communication platform, Voice Mobility (News - Alert) International required a total forklift upgrade with all voice and data property being lost in the process.

 

Since Avaya announced the end of sale of OCTel 250 and 350 servers on June 30, 2006, the lack of a tool specifically designed to migrate voice messages, data and applications from legacy OCTel servers has slowed the adoption of new unified communication solutions.

 

Voice Mobility's Virtual Silver Suitcase (VSS) enables Business Partners to offer low cost, low disruption migration solution at low resource and support expenses.

 

"Customers utilizing OCTel servers may have thousands of hours of voice data and thousands of hours of effort invested in voice applications stored on these servers to support their business processes. We don't want the customer to lose this investment. In today's market it is not enough to provide a replacement solution for an OCTel customer. Customers require the tools to migrate their valuable information to make their investment in new technology seamless to their user communities," said Mike Seeley (News - Alert), VP of sales, Voice Mobility.

 

VSS enables Voice Mobility and its Business Partners to migrate voice, data and applications (including enhanced call processing mailboxes) to the Voice Mobility UCN (News - Alert) 250 platform. In addition, the VSS does not require physical devices to be shipped from site to site during the migration process.
