Kyivstar of the Ukraine Deploys Comverse Messaging PC Client
Comverse (News - Alert), a company offering software and systems that power network-based communication and billing services, reportedly has announced that Kyivstar, a mobile operator from the Ukraine, is using its Messaging PC Client service.
The service is expected to help Kyivstar subscribers create and send multi-media message service and short message service messages through their computers.
Kyivstar, which has more than 23 million subscribers, is the first operator in the region that has provided subscribers with an ability to create and send the text messages through a PC. The service is being powered by technology from TeleMessage, a company that offers cross-platform media messaging management systems and applications.
Comverse Messaging PC Client enables a smooth integration of mobile messaging with e-mailing and Web browsing, to meet the needs and lifestyles of active mobile customers.
On the toolbar at the top of the screen, the application features a “Send SMS & MMS” button so that the PC users have a convenient way to compose messages and add pictures and video clips. The toolbar is visible on the top of the screen, boosting brand and service awareness among users.
John Bunyan, chief marketing officer at Comverse, said that the success of this service at Kyivstar proves how easy and useful it is for people to send user-generated content via SMS and MMS while sitting at their keyboards.
Bunyan said that actual usage of the application has exceeded expectations, as tens of thousands of Kyivstar subscribers downloaded the Comverse Messaging PC Client and sent more than half a million SMS and MMS messages from their computers just within two months of service launch,.
Kyivstar is the national mobile communications operator of the Ukraine, and offers its services to more than 23 million subscribers. The network of Kyivstar encompasses more than 28 thousand villages in the country, that together comprise of an area where more than 99.9 percent of the Ukrainian population lives.
