Strong U.K. Interest in Unified Communications

A whopping 87 percent of U.K. businesses are looking to invest in unified communications solutions in the near future, according to a survey conducted by U.K.-based Vanson Bourne. Just 13 percent of respondents reported they would not consider adopting UC.

The high positive response might be explained by the fact that discrete services such as VoIP or Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert),  that enable or include UC features, qualify as UC solutions.

VoIP was the most popular aspect of Unified Communications (News - Alert), with 80 percent of respondents citing it as a technology they were planning to invest in as part of their customer service solution. In addition, 41 percent said they were interested in interactive voice response features.

About 31 percent report interest in presence management, while 30 percent of respondents say they are interested in SIP.

Interest in unified communications was particularly strong in the retail, distribution and transport sector,
with 100 percent of respondents indicating they were considering a UC solution of some type.

Although all sectors felt that Unified Communications is of key.
